Die Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft fördert intern im Programm PREPARE Projekte zur Vorlaufforschung. Im PREPAREProjekt BIOSYNTH wird an einer modularen Hochdurchsatz-Mikroplattform mit thermischer Synthese und optischem Monitoring für künftige Massendatenspeicher aus synthetischer Biologie geforscht. Die Plattform kann unter anderem auch für Anwendungen in Medizin, Biotechnologie, Biologie oder Landwirtschaft nützlich sein.
Im BIOSYNTH Konsortium aus den Fraunhofer-Instituten IPMS, IZI-BB und ITEM wird das Know-how aus Ingenieurswissenschaft, Mikroelektronik, Informatik und Biotechnologie zusammengeführt.
