RFID-SysTech 2011
Over the last years, the European Workshop on RFID Systems and Technologies has become a central platform in Europe for personal networking and information exchange in the field of RFID technologies and applications. This year Dresden Technical University and Fraunhofer IPMS in Dresden are organizing the event supported by the Association for Electrical, Electronic & Information Technologies VDE and the Association of Automatic Identification and Mobility AIM.
Don't miss the chance to attend this workshop and to register at www.rfid-systech.eu! The specific profile of this workshop is to examine both the technology and business aspects: the latest achievements in technologies and systems for smart objects, their integration into information systems and business processes and their business value. The RFID SysTech-Workshop will offer an excellent opportunity to participate in interdisciplinary discussions, set up new networks and exchange information on a professional level.
In addition to the workshop, an industrial exhibition will be held. Fraunhofer IPMS will be presenting:
UHF transponder technology for sensor applications
Transonder usually transmit simple data, such as an identification number. However, the small radio labels developed by Fraunhofer IPMS also comprise sensors that can measure certain parameters such as temperature, pressure or humidity. Researchers anticipate many areas of application for this UHF transponder technology like for a wireless sensor or for cold chain observation of blood preservations or vaccines. Additionally it could be possible to extend plasters with a transponder to observe moisture and temperature that provides information on the progress of wound healing.
Now the researchers have developed a platform which can be adapted to the requested applications of the customer. This platform enables specifically manufactured chips suitable for series production which connect transponder module and sensor modules. The key to Joining a transponder with a sensor module was the use of an internal microcontroller which executes sensor measurements, processes the data and prepares it for read-out by a reader station.
During the RFID Systech exhibition, the experts will present a demonstration system which consists of a transponder, sensors and an antenna on a printed circuit board for an application as wireless sensor in the UHF frequency range.
