Secure automotive on-board networks - Fraunhofer IPMS develops IP designs for data control
From driver assistance systems to infotainment - more and more data is being transmitted in modern vehicles. In the on-board network, data streams must be prioritized differently and transmitted using various communication protocols. The Fraunhofer IPMS develops different IP Core designs for this purpose, which meet the functional safety requirements of the automotive sector and can be used independently of the platform. At the Bordnetz Congress on September 22, 2020, the experts of the Fraunhofer IPMS will present the IP Core designs for the automotive sector.
The ISO 26262 standard specifies the requirements for safety-critical electronic systems in the automotive sector so that hardware failures can be prevented or brought under control. The use of pre-certified IP Cores from Fraunhofer IPMS significantly simplifies the approval process of the overall system, since relevant documents such as the FMEDA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) and the Safety Manual are already available, and necessary safety features are fully implemented and tested. This guarantees maximum functional safety in the vehicle, while minimizing costs and time spent on system development.
With CAN and LIN IP Cores, an IP Core family for Time Sensitive Networking (TSN), and a Low Latency Ethernet MAC Core, Fraunhofer IPMS offers a comprehensive range of IP Cores for automotive product development. The automotive IP designs are offered platform independent and are suitable for integration into FPGAs as well as ASICs. The Fraunhofer IPMS provides comprehensive consulting services in all questions of FPGA development and adapts and develops IP Cores and SoCs according to the customers' needs. The multidisciplinary IP design team is available as a competent development partner in every development phase. More than 150 customers worldwide use the IP Cores of the Fraunhofer IPMS, many of them in the onboard networks of vehicles.
The SGS TÜV Saar is certification partner for Fraunhofer IPMS IP Cores in the automotive sector.
